A note of caution

As much as I do hate to admit it, computers aren’t infallible. Just as records can scratch and needles can break, mini-disks can jam and remotes can quit working, likewise computers can crash, lock up, or behave in bizarre ways understood only by programmers. And I’m sure that there are still bugs lurking in the DanceMaster programs.  So despite the fact that our system has proven very reliable, we still carry a backup (we used to carry a handful of records, now we carry an MP3 player or a spare laptop) in the car, just in case. We recommend that you do the same.

Of course, DANCEMASTER COMES WITH NO GUARANTEES OR WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER.  YOUR USE OF THIS PROGRAM MUST BE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Still, it is nice to note that as of this writing (8/06), we have been using the computer for teaching and cueing an average of two or three times a week for over seven years.  We had to resort to records a few times at the beginning - mostly when we discovered that a dance we wanted to use wasn’t in the computer yet, or was entered wrong, but not at all in the last several years.  For a while we carried an MP3 player loaded with about 50 “generic” dances, and a notebook of cue sheets in the car in case of disaster, but now we carry a spare laptop.
