Entering a New Cue Card

Top  Previous  Next

By far the best format to use for cue cards is .RTF.  DMP provides limited support for .DOC (Word) and .BMP (scanned) cue cards, but that is mostly to ease the transition to DanceMaster.  Karaoke Cue Cards (as well as other nifty things planned for future versions) will only work with .RTF cue cards.

You can create RTF files with most word processors, and you can use those to convert existing cue card files from other formats as well.

Cue cards can be laid out in whatever format you find most comfortable (within reason).  If you want to use Karaoke Cue Cards, though, there are a couple of restrictions.

The first is that the figures must be separated with semicolons.  You can use one or more semicolons per figure (i.e. NYER;  CRAB WALK 2X;;  SPOT TRN;  CRAB WALK RLOD 2X;;), but don't use semicolons for anything else on the cue card!
You can have one or more figures on a line, but the cue card should be laid out the way the dance will be played.  If the sequence is A,A B,A then you should write out part A twice, followed by part B, followed by part A again.  Fortunately, word processors make this less tedious than it might be.

Save the cue card file in the cue card folder (C:\DanceMatster\Cue Cards), then use the Dance Details screen to attach it when you are entering your dance.
