Reached from: Main Menu -> Select Dances-> Playlist Button The Program Screen shows the playlist of dances that you plan to do in a session. As you browse through your menu of dances on the Select Screen you add the ones that you want to cue to this list by clicking the checkbox to the left of the dance name. Then you can open this screen to review the list and arrange the dances into the order you want. You can add “markers” to separate tips or dance segments, you can save the program to disk or load a previously saved one.
Operation: In order to do something with a dance in this list, you must first select it by clicking on the dance name. The dance’s background will turn blue, as illustrated above. “Maple Leaf Rag” is the selected dance – if the Move Down button were clicked, Maple Leaf Rag would trade places with Misty Moonlight. Clicking on the Move UP button will move the selected dance up one position in the list. As you might expect, clicking Move Down will move it down and clicking Remove Dance will remove it from the list (Not from the database!). The Add Mark button will insert a “marker line” in the list just above the selected dance. You can use these markers to delineate breaks in the program. In the illustration above, the first 9 dances are planned for pre-rounds and the rest are programmed for 2x2s. The checkmarks in the first column of the table indicate that these dances have already been played. If you play a dance out of sequence, even if you choose it from the Select screen, it will be checked off here and skipped by the “Next” pointer. If you want to remove one or all of the checkmarks, click one of the blue buttons. The red arrow in the first column signifies the dance that will be loaded by the “Next In Program” button on the Preview / Play screen. The “Next Dance” will normally be the top un-played dance in the list, but you can tell DMP to start somewhere else by selecting the dance then clicking the “Make Next To Play” button. The program will then start retrieving dances from that point in the list. When it gets to the bottom of the list, the “Next” marker will go to the top un-played dance in the list. NOTE: If you select a dance in the list (by clicking on it’s name), then click the “Play” button, the selected dance will be loaded and made ready to play. The “Next” pointer will not move. In the figure above, we can see that this is a program for a square dance with pre-rounds. The dances were played according to the program up until 7:48PM, when "Spinning Wheel" was substituted for "Sweeter Than You". Another request ("Today") was slipped in in place of "Washington Square". We are now ready to start the first between-squares tip with "B-B-B-Burnin'". Clicking Auto Play will put the player into automatic mode - once you start a dance playing, DanceMaster will play each song in the playlist without stopping. You might find that handy if you are cueing a dance marathon or supplying background music during a break. You can save this list, breaks and all, to disk by clicking the Save This Program button. A window will open to get the name and location to store this list. Of course, you can load a previously saved program with the Load A Saved Program button. Print This Program is handy for generating dance lists to post around the hall at a pre-programmed dance, and it is also useful for submitting a list of dances you would like to cue to a festival programmer. You can either print the list on paper or save it to a file for emailing. |
