Setting Up Remote Codes     (Advanced Edition)

This screen is where you teach DMP what codes you are going to use.

You can use any of 30 code sets to talk to the Player from the remote.  There are 15 "House Codes" (A - P) and 2 "Banks" (1-8 and 9-12) selectable on the remote control.  Each combination of House Code and Bank produces a unique set of codes.  If you are the only cuer in the area using DanceMaster Player, this doesn't matter to you, but if you are likely to find yourself cueing near where someone else might be using DMP, you will want to be using a different code set so you don't operate each other's computers. (Remember that this remote can work through walls.)

To transmit using a different set of codes, use a screwdriver to select a House Code other than "A", and / or change the Bank Switch from 1-8 to 9-16 on the remote control. Then you have to teach DMP your new codes as explained below.

DMP comes knowing how to use the default code set (House Code "A", Bank 1-8).  To teach it your new one, choose a code set on the previous screen (the Receiver & Serial Port Selection screen), make sure your transmitter is set as described above, then click the "Learn Codes" button on this screen.  Then, for each of the 18 function buttons ( "MUSIC", "CUES", "ON", "OFF", etc.) click the button on the screen then press the corresponding button on the remote.   Remember to wait until the red light on the transmitter stops blinking before you select another function on the screen.

For instance:

Click the "MUSIC" button on the screen.  It will turn yellow, indicating that DMP is ready to learn that code.

Press the "Music" button on the remote.  The button on the screen will turn grey again, indicating that the code was received and learned.  (If it doesn't, that probably means that the computer and the remote aren't communicating.  Check the serial port assignment, the remote batteries, and make sure no other program in the computer is using the same serial port.)

Repeat that process for each of the other buttons (including the blue UP and DOWN buttons at the bottom of the remote). Then click the "Done" button.
