Venues Update Form Grad   (Advanced Edition)

Reached from: Main Menu -> Lists-> Venues Button

A venue is a class, club, special dance – each distinct group that you cue for. It isn’t a location, because you might do different sessions (i.e. a beginner class followed by a phase III / IV class every Tuesday) at the same hall. That would represent two different venues. If you cue once a year at a festival, that is another venue.

This form is where you get to enter the information that you want to keep about each venue that you cue in / at. It is also where you tell DanceMaster what defaults to use when logging dances done at this venue.

Venues Form

The Type identifies what kind of a dance is done at this venue. DanceMaster doesn't make much use of this information yet, but we might come up with a use for it in the future.

Dance Logging Default specifies what kind of logging DanceMaster will assume when you "log in" to this venue. You can override this setting at that time if you want to.

Class - Don't create a log record for dances done or tally popularity points, but do add new dances to this class's repertoire.
Dance - Create a log record with the date, time, dancer count, and venue for each dance done here.
None - Ignore any dances done here. You would use this setting for practice sessions, for instance.

Ask For Head Counts - If this box is checked, DanceMaster will open a small form after each dance that you cue at this venue to ask how many couples were on the floor. It will use that information to help you keep track of the popularity of a given dance.

The Group Name is... well, whatever you want to call this group.

The other fields on this form are fairly obvious except possibly Paid... On.You can jot down your last rent payment for the hall here, or even use it to note what you got paid last. These fields will be much more useful when used with the DanceMaster Datebook (If I ever get around to writing it.)

Make this the Default Venue causes DanceMaster to open with this venue pre-selected on the Main Menu.  You still have to press <Enter> or double-click on it to confirm that this is where you really are, but at least you won't have to search for it.  (NOTE: Please save your new venue BEFORE you use this button on it.  Otherwise the Player will probably get upset and crash on you.  Then YOU will be upset.)

To add a new venue, click the Add A New Venue button. You will get an empty form. Fill in the fields as appropriate and then click the "Update" button to save it.

To change information about an existing venue, just type in the appropriate fields. The corrected information will be saved automatically.

The Set Venue List Order button doesn't do much of anything at the moment.
