You might like to record your cues with introductions (i.e.: “Beautiful Sunday is a phase four foxtrot with an Open Hip Twist. It begins in butterfly with a two measure wait.”) – at least Sandy does. But if you are teaching the dance, you don’t want to make the dancers stand around listening to the intro over and over each time you start the dance. It is also superfluous when you are demonstrating the dance – say at the National Convention. That is why the PLAY screen has a "Voice Intros" button. It is an On/Off toggle button - gray when it is off, and dark green when it is on. It doesn't appear unless the voice cues are turned on. (Not much point in having intros but no cues!) If you turn intros on, you will see another little box below the button that tells you (in seconds) where the intro ends and the music begins. Of course, DanceMaster doesn't know where that is until you tell it. Do that by playing the dance with voice cues turned on. At the end of the intro, just before the music starts, press the <F10> key on the keyboard. DM will remember from then on that this is where the intro ends..You can click in the “Offset” box and adjust the number as necessary. (You will probably have to subtract one unless your reaction time is very fast.) From then on, you will have the option of playing the dance with or without cues, and with or without introductions. Not only that, but Advanced Edition users can turn voice intros on and off using the remote control. Use the "Speech" button (third button in the left hand column), followed by the "On" or the "Off" button. Of course, this will only have an effect if the Voice Cues are turned on. Such marvelous flexibility!
