With or without DanceMaster Record Librarian |

In order to play your dances, DMP needs to know certain things about them. It uses a database file on your computer to keep track of the information about each dance, including what sound file and cue card file to use. The best way to get that information into the computer is to use the DanceMaster Record Librarian program, which keeps track of your records, what songs are on each record, and what dances go with each song. It helps you avoid buying yet another duplicate record to get the dance on the flip side, and tells you which box / shelf / pile a particular record is in. It will print a “Jacket” for each record (with the cues on it), as well as a variety of reports, lists and dance “menus” (even “request lists”). (See The DanceMaster Family) However, in case you really don’t care about records, only dances, and don’t want to get involved with the Record Librarian, DMP includes a “mini-database” that will let you enter enough information to use the Player. If you later decide to use the Record Librarian, you can add the song and record information at that time. The advantage of using the mini-database is that you don’t have to enter as much information. (Entering a large record collection into the Librarian is a LOT of work.) The disadvantage is that you don’t get as much out of it – no reports of dances, flip sides, manufacturers (what record is Bye Bye Blues on?) or request menus for dancers. |
